The body of the wagon was die cast in the white metal alloy zamak.
Depending on the wagon, it was mounted either a fixed four-wheel chassis or two bogie wheelbase. Chassis, bogies and flanged wheels were made from a diecast steel alloy. Wheel sets were held in place on the chassis or bogies by crimped lugs.
In the case of the fixed wheelbase wagon, assembly was done by fitting the chassis onto posts coming from the body of the wagon. In the case of the two bogie wagons, assembly involved each bogie mounted on a post coming from the body of the wagon. The posts had cupped ends, which were peened over to create a permanent assembly.

Fixed based wagons had detail of axle boxes. For wagons with bogies, there was detail of the spring suspension and axle boxes.
Couplings were achieved by a pin at one end of the base and a cast ring loop at the other.
All wagons had ‘LONE STAR LOCOS’ and ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ cast in high relief on the underside. Some of the wagons with bogies also carried the same high relief branding on the underside of the bogie itself.
